Loma Sagrada

Nosara, Costa Rica

Loma Sagrada is an award winning oasis within the jungle along the shore of the Pacific ocean. A sacred space to connect with ourselves, each other, the natural world and the Great Spirit.

We fell in love with the energy, jungle, beaches and community in Nosara.

When we were scouting properties, our realtor shared an important teaching, “Please consider how you will make a contribution to the community. Many come and just take, consider how you can give back.” Learning that we did want to give back, allowed our realtor to connect us with a local rancher who wanted to sell to good people. We went through several months of negotiation and were able to acquire Loma Sagrada and developed a beautiful friendship with the rancher.

When we closed on the property, it was quite barren, having been grazed by cows for many years. Over the next six to twelve months, the jungle began to come back. it had been laying dormant within the dry grasses. Several years later, the jungle is thriving with Howler monkeys who live onsite, and all varieties of birds, frogs, snakes, butterflies and insects. Recently we had our first toucan sighting and several years back, we welcomed a black jaguar.

There’s nothing more essential to an ecosystem than the cultivation of healthy soil. This is something sorely missing from present-day chemical based agriculture. This is why at Loma Sagrada we are dedicated to chemical-free, sustainable agriculture based in permaculture and biodynamic principles.

We left no stone unturned in the design process creating a mix of sustainable architecture within a natural landscape intended for connection on all levels. We nurtured a symbiotic relationship between the elements, plants, animals, humans and the invisible energies that sustain us all.

Nutritious, clean and high energy food is vital to a healthy life. We planned a variety of garden areas within the jungle forest to grow culinary and medicinal herbs, vegetables, and fruits while raising honey bees, chickens, and ducks. We have three primary garden spaces with over 45 species of exotic fruit trees. We are surrounded by ranch land and thus derive the benefit of having cattle and horses as our closest neighbors.

The entire Loma Sagrada property employs both permaculture and biodynamic agriculture principles to encourage the very highest vibration and to support the relationship between human, insect, plant, animal and elements, creating a mutually beneficial and shared environment. We use homemade chemical-free bio-creations that enrich the soil and nourish and protect the living green spaces as well as all the critters that dwell among the soil and plants.

Along with growing health-giving foods, we also have a state of the art water purification system, a fresh water pool and a 40 KW solar electric system. The water purification system not only creates medical grade purified H2O, but it also energizes and mineralizes the water for optimal health.

Regarding the buildings on the land, we have a main house that cantilevers over the jungle a pool area with an outdoor kitchen, along with a yoga shala and temple rancho to share teachings and a Temazcal purification lodge. There is also a garden kitchen for processing harvested food and creating medicinal products for the community.

Another important aspect of the Loma Sagrada development is the loving people who work hard everyday to make sure the spaces are safe, clean and operating optimally. We are blessed to steward the land with very talented and heart-centered people that help us hold the space—“it takes a village.” They are part of our family.

We so look forward to sharing sacred space with you and deepening on this spirutal journey into the Great Mystery.

Connection is the medicine.

Eaden + Deva Shantay

Eaden + Deva Shantay have been creating sacred spaces together since 2009. Eaden’s deep love for community, personal growth, architecture, and nature combined with Deva’s visionary skills in art + design, intuitive sight and passion for healthy living, opened vast possibilities they were eager to explore.

The Shantay’s began creating True Nature, their award-winning sanctuary in Carbondale, Colorado, USA in 2011. The campus for education in conscious living features art + antiques from around the world surrounded by a magical biodynamic Peace Garden. The space offers opportunities to connect through a labyrinth, reflexology path, zen garden, wishing tree, yoga spiral, fire circle, organic cafe, spa, boutique, yoga studio and kiva. It is a remarkable achievement that one must visit to truly appreciate.

Their next creation led them to Costa Rica where they developed a sacred place for community to gather within the jungle, next to the Pacific ocean. Loma Sagrada is an intentional space with an eco environs that allows guests to explore conscious living, connection and personal growth.

Loma Sagrada has been featured in many magazines and has won three prestigious architectural awards reflecting a sustainable development approach that honors the natural world. The property has three primary gardens: medical and culinary herbs, fruit orchard with over 40 exotic types and vegetables, all employing biodynamic and permaculture principles. Loma Sagrada also has walking trails, a fresh water pool, a yoga shala, and two ceremonial spaces: the Temple featuring sunrise and sunsets and a Temazcal Purification Lodge.

Through the process of developing these two sacred spaces, Eaden + Deva felt the call to create a non-profit called “Connection Is The Medicine,” to explore their passion of creating a deeper connection to self, community, nature and Spirit.

In a world filled with disease and disharmony it is vital to share time in spaces that encourage connection.
